Texas Southmost College is located in Brownsville, Texas on the grounds of the oldest permanent fort in Texas, Fort Brown. On its campus is one of the oldest buildings in Brownsville, Jacob Brown Auditorium. Texas Southmost College was looking for a turnkey solution for audio-visual equipment upgrades for the large auditorium, adjacent conference rooms, and lobby.
One of the oldest buildings in Brownsville, Jacob Brown Auditorium, is located on the grounds of Fort Brown, the oldest permanent fort in Texas. The renovation of Brown Auditorium began with an RFP seeking a turnkey solution for audio-visual equipment upgrades for the large auditorium, adjacent conference rooms, and lobby. Before the renovation, techs would have to spend up to 3 days setting up and breaking down portable audio and video equipment to accommodate an event.
The challenge was to integrate state-of-the-art audio and video systems while maintaining the historic integrity of the auditorium. Mankin collaborated with the Texas Southmost College Team to achieve the renovation goals and usher in a new era for the Jacob Brown Auditorium.
The auditorium, as well as the adjacent rooms, needed highly flexible systems that could change and adapt as the creative needs shifted. All rooms are equipped with Extron monitors for push-button control. In addition to the audio and video upgrades, each room is equipped with the ability to stream content to and from the spaces.
All of the technical components of the system were chosen to maximize longevity and minimize required maintenance to emphasize the strategy of sustained excellence. All elements of the system are capable of connecting to the Guardian by the Mankin network operation center for real-time support during events.
