Our 4D process incorporates your dreams into a comprehensive system design, deploy, and defend process that maximizes your ability to engage your audience.
The DREAM process informs and inspires where you want to go, what it’s going to take, and how we’re going to get there together.
The DESIGN process takes the emotional language of wants and needs and converts it to technical specifications on a printed document.
The DEPLOY process makes sure the system lives in harmony with your building acoustically, electrically, and aesthetically.
The DEFEND process protects the performance standards of your system to maximize the longevity of your investment.
While “feel-good" words are easy to come by, commitment is not. These eight values are the most essential elements of who we are and what we stand for. We invite you to hold us to them.
We value honesty, loyalty, humility, respect, gratefulness, and trustworthiness above all else.
We believe in the work we’re doing and the people we’re doing it for, 100% of the time.
We respect the client, our team, and the process - and understand that active collaboration is foundational to delivering an exceptional, repeatable experience.
We will be dependable and reliable to ourselves, our teammates, and our clients.
We are relentless in - and committed to - our pursuit of excellence, while also maintaining sustainability as individuals, employees, and as a company.
We will embrace curiosity, take healthy risks, and consider education a critical component to the growth of our company and success of our clients.
We value long term relationships over cold transactions.
We are a team of A-players dedicated to finding and delivering the wow on each and every project.
As individuals, we range from tech wizards to raconteurs and entrepreneurs to engineers. Together, we’ve completed hundreds of projects and won dozens of awards. While we’re proud of all that, our passion and purpose is what really excites us: we’re here to help you engage your audience.
While working in broadcast production, Ben saw a growing need for talented and creative people to lead organizations and churches through the media revolution. In 2001, he decided to start Mankin Media Systems in the spare bedroom of his condo. One day, after his neighbor signed for 14 speaker boxes that came truck freight, he realized it might be time to make things a bit more formal.
Since that time he’s consulted, designed, and installed technical systems all over the world while building a team around him of smart and savvy people. Hundreds of projects and dozens of awards later, Ben’s passion to help leaders better engage their audience has never burned brighter.
Jason brings over two decades of organizational and strategic leadership to Mankin as our Executive Vice President. His relational focus and movement-driven strategy has proven time and again to be a catalyst for greater effectiveness.
There’s little doubt that his path to awesomeness started early – probably around the same time he won “Home Economics Student of the Year” in high school. That accolade seems to have proven valuable outside the office too, positioning him well to win over his bride and impress their four children to this very day.
Jodi believes corralling people towards a common goal is only one small part of the equation, and she’s got over 20 years in operations to back it up. She’s passionate about people not only owning their part of the outcome, but also championing respect, encouraging a sense of adventure, and calling forth greatness in in their colleague’s.
When she’s not being a Mankin superhero, Jodi likes to do normal human things like read, watch Netflix, or just learn new stuff. Also, if you want to know anything about Texas or where to find the best TexMex, Jodi’s your gal – because she’s an 8th generation Texan!
Shane leads our design department, and is the creative genius behind many of the award-winning AVL solutions Mankin has been a part of. He is an expert at crafting technical elements to achieve the creative outcomes our clients want, and doesn’t believe in choosing between form and function.
Other loves include his Cavalier King Charles, the Los Angeles Rams, driving his motorcycle, and showing off his mad Lego skills. Shane also has a reputation for selecting excellent restaurants when he travels, of which the entire team is very grateful.
Tim is our primary river guide, successfully navigating clients through our 4D Process over and over again. As an award-winning systems designer, Tim’s expertise shines through in the way he artfully integrates concert level audio, broadcast video, and theatrical lighting.
As you might have guessed, he’s no stranger to plunging into uncharted waters. He married his college sweetheart, once rapped on stage, and at the age of 14 engineered his first record. His more relaxed activities include grilling on his Big Green Egg and building his vinyl collection.
David has been in the tech industry for over 20 years and has always had a passion for the church. As the former Senior Director of Technology and Technical Arts at Gateway Church in Texas, he guided and directed over 700 staff and volunteers in a mission to facilitate several hundred events a month among all venues.
From his first volunteer gig at age 11 with his local church until now, David has worked events for President George H W Bush, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, ABC News, and many major recording artists. We can’t imagine a better fit for our clients and their pursuit for consistent performance and predictable results!
Shae is passionate about leadership, and he has a fantastic track record of building successful teams to back it up. From ministries to medical sales, he’s committed to serving organizations that are making a difference, and we’re thrilled to have him on the Mankin team.
As refined as he might look in a dress shirt, don’t let it fool you. Shae’s at his happiest when he’s riding on his tractor out on the farm where he and his bride raise their three kids. But you can’t ride a tractor all day every day, so he’s a bit of a traveler too – having been to every continent except Antartica!
After receiving his degree from Belmont University, Jon dedicated himself to growing his skills and abilities so as to be the best he can be for whomever he is associated with. His instinct and aptitude to bring out the best in everyone he comes in contact with is just one of many reasons he thrives in his role at Mankin.
While Jon is a wonderful resource for our client’s, he’s also incredibly talented in the creative arts as an accomplished pianist and budding author. Like any good renaissance man, there’s also a rumor he has an entire drawer dedicated to fanciful bow-ties!
Dan is our project manager and oversees Deploy operations. He has spent his entire life involved with audio, video, and lighting systems in some form or another – in both the commercial and house of worship markets.
When Dan isn’t busy executing successful project solutions for our client’s, you might see him at a concert, movie, or on a run. Not sure if it’s him? Look at his shoes. He’s a Nike aficionado. Once you’re sure it’s him, ask him about his college scholarship for beatboxing.
While Zoe is formally a Prebuild Technician, her internal title is more along the lines of “Deploy Lab Pirate Goddess.” Don’t worry, she doesn’t have a hook for a right hand – but her attention to detail is wildly impressive, and is foundational to the success of our team’s working on site.
When taking a break from being awesome in the lab, she’s likely reading, baking, gaming, or playing with her dog Annabel Lee. She’s also an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan, but holds season tickets to the Predators because she really loves hockey!
Shane is our Design & Engineering Director, making sure that our clients’ dreams translate into a smooth deploy. His experience over the past twenty years includes broadcast audio engineering, technical event management, technical director of an 8,000 member church, and AVL system design and installation.
You may also know Shane as Bugs Bunny. No, not that Bugs Bunny. Remember the child on his grandparents farm that used the name as his CB handle? That one. Nowadays Shane’s more keen on collecting vinyl records and finding stuff around the house (or office) to fix. He’s a great fit for Mankin, and we’re thrilled to have him.
Mike is our resident CTO, or as he likes to describe it: “I love to solve technology puzzles with efficiency, speed, and flare.” We will gladly attest to all three of those attributes. His love of learning, paired with a knack for ideation, keeps the entire Mankin team on their toes.
Outside the office and technology, Mike still keeps plenty busy. Not only does he play piano, but he also writes his own music. That is, when he’s not spending time with his wife and four children, or telling tales of his Lego accomplishments as a child.
Jonathan is a story-oriented brand strategist with experience in a wide range of environments. From non-profit’s, to start-up’s, to Fortune 100 companies, he’s continuously seeking out new ways to pair words and images to invite people into stories bigger than themselves.
Outside the office, Jonathan enjoys getting outdoors with his wife and two kids, firing up the grill with friends, and watching soccer. He also likes to think he’s the most urban guy in suburbia, because he regularly rides his bike to work – fancy shoes and all.
Mike’s special ability is leveraging best practices in IT management to improve organizational performance and profitability. If it sounds smart, it’s because that’s Mike. He’s got over 20 years of history and experience, with a track record of improving efficiency upwards of 50%.
Unsurprisingly, Activator and Strategic are Mike’s top strengths according to Gallup’s StrengthsFinder 2.0. What may surprise you, however, is that he was once a professional drummer, and his favorite food is Nutella. Ok, only one of those is surprising.
Not only is Justin our Senior Systems Engineer and resident CAD expert, but his past experience in project management and installation offers boundless creativity to our client’s dreams. He has been designing and engineering masterpieces here at Mankin for quite some time now.
In high school, he was a radio DJ on the weekends. He also played in the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra during college. And since then, he’s had his hands on systems ranging in size from 200 seat traditional churches, to 65,000 seat sport stadiums. “I like to do drawings,” says Justin. We think “like” is a bit understated.
John is a television broadcast veteran with over three decades of experience. He’s engineered live broadcasts of national news events from the White House and the US Capitol, to the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, to name a few.
Having grown up in Acushnet, MA, at age 18 the furthest south or west John had ever traveled was New York City. Things have changed a bit since then. When he and his wife aren’t spending time with their three creative and adventurous children, he’s likely playing guitar, woodworking, hiking, or out on his bike.
Josh believes atmosphere is everything, and when the right people are paired with the proper tools and knowledge, it’s possible to engage everyone. Not only does he orchestrate those experiences for our clients, but he also make sure they know he has their back when they need it.
Discovering new gear and learning how to use it is not only his profession, but hobby as well. Whether it’s photography, filmmaking or music making, Josh is always expanding his knowledge base while simultaneously scratching his creative itch.
Lukas has a knack for making it look easy. Mainly because, for him, it is. He’s fluent in design, fabrication, and assembly across numerous mediums – making him an incredible asset on our deploy team.
Lukas is a proud dad to nine goldfish, has been to five countries, is one of four boys in his family, and took culinary classes for three years. He also slays on the guitar, and is a frequent patron at the local bowling alley. We’re still searching to figure out what he’s not good at.
Travis is one of our AutoCad rock stars, but that’s just tip of the iceberg. His audio expertise, paired with his passion for building things, has proven invaluable over the years on each and every project that comes down the pipeline.
When he’s not drafting for our clients, you might find him training for another half marathon, or planning which state to visit next – he’s on a mission to visit all 50. He’s also a bit of a movie buff, knows all the words to the Mr. Ed theme song, and has an R2D2 lunch box. There’s a running theory that Travis may very well be the most well rounded nerd you’ve never met.
Adrian loves all things production, especially bringing “A” people and “A” gear together, under skilled leadership, to create impactful production that tells a story. He’s proven this time and again, whether working on-site, or at Mankin HQ in the warehouse.
Adrian has a couple other loves, even more important than production: his family and coffee. We’re not sure if the love for coffee came before or after the young children, but nonetheless, they go hand in hand these days.
The Mankin warehouse at our Franklin, TN HQ is a beast. According to Newton’s Third Law, in order to tame said beast, we need an even greater force of magnitude on the opposite side. That in mind, we’d like to introduce the person responsible for managing our very busy warehouse – who is also our latest prebuild addition – Tim Hull.
Tim’s pretty accustomed to wrangling the bigger challenges in life, both in the workplace and outside. At age 14, he jumped in to help his church with their tech needs, and he’s also climbed two fourteeners! (That’s outdoorsman talk for two mountains with an elevation of at least 14,000 ft.) The intimidation your feeling right now is totally normal. So, if you want to make sure you’re on his good side, he loves molasses crinkles. *Hint Hint*
When we asked Josiah what excited him about working on the Mankin team, he said, “As a former church Tech Director, I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had someone to rely on when critical gear went down on Sunday morning.” It’s easy to see why that background and experience makes him such a wonderful asset for our clients!
Ever since the age of 14, Josiah’s been doing live audio work. Now, being able to better support fellow church tech’s is what excites him about coming into work each day. When he’s not saving the day on our Guardian front-lines, he’s a big fan of watching documentaries and eating pie of any kind. Bonus points if it’s at the same time.
JJ’s deep understanding of providing technical support in an accessible way is a huge asset to our engineering team. In a field that requires stringent organization, JJ is consistently developing new and innovative approaches by weaving together flexibility and creativity.
Prior to joining the Mankin team, JJ and his wife actually ran a small theatre company in Nashville, TN. The theatre, Street Theatre Company, has won a number of awards and is still operating successfully today.
